Reverb, A Genetic Opera
Performance using mitochondrial DNA, 2022.
The first iteration of Reverb: A Genetic Opera asked how inheritance might be felt rather than fixed, transposing the artist’s mitochondrial DNA into an operatic exchange with a soprano where lineage and agency remain unresolved. Conceived as an ongoing series of sonic rituals, the work translates matrilineal memory into vibration and voice, staging motherhood and daughterhood not as roles to be inherited but as frequencies that shift through listening.
